Who doesn't love fall..., right? We were out pumpkin hunting and came across the cutest little nursery tucked away out in the middle of nowhere (which is hard to be in Atlanta). They had gorgeous mums and we helped ourselves to some.



These are what we came away with. Then it was off to find those pumpkins that we were looking for in the first place. Whelp, we found them...Lots of them. Big ones, little ones and ones just right for us.


This is one of the ones Scott picked. And this is what we did with them all when we got home.

No, my Momma! My mom and sister, Brandi, came down to visit us last weekend. Brandi is getting married and she asked me to make her invitations. So that was a good excuse to go to the scrapbook store and pick some things out. She picked out some really cute scalloped edged cards that are pretty simple, yet elegant that she can put her engagement pictures on. We went to Rafferty's for lunch and had some sunshine chicken salads, which are my mom's favs. It was the first time they had been down to visit since we moved to Georgia. It was way fun and I hope they come again soon.

I received copies of these photos from my Grandmother. They are very precious to me because they are a link to my ancestors, some more recent than others. Family History is important to me because I believe in sealing my family together for eternity. My parents are not particularly interested in family history and were it not for my grandmother and her love of these old photo's I wouldn't have them, nor would I be able to add the extra layer of my family history by viewing them and feeling in them a since of who my ancestors were. So I would just like to remind everyone that your photos are treasures, not only for you, and for your children, but generations of your posterity. And even if your children seem not to appreciate them, your grandchildren or great-grandchildren might.

My mother as a senior in High School. She was already married to my father by this time. They were married when they were 17.

This is my Great-grandfather, George Edgar Coontz (aka Ed). I especially like the second picture. I just wish he was wearing his hat. He was married twice, his second wife was my Great-Grandmother.

These little guys are part of my family, too. The second from the left, the one with his tongue stuck out and the little gremlin ears, is my dad. The other boys are one of my great-uncles and some cousins. This picture was taken round 1956. If you have ever tried to imagine you parents as children...

Okay so it's been a busy summer and I haven't blogged in a while so I'm catching up now. Starting in May...

My friend Maria Strange came to town and I got to see her for a few minutes, but only for a few minutes because we went to see the kids...

Chad and Alicia moved to a new place out in Crofton so we went and visited them there. It's a very nice place with a pond and they have their very own ducks. Chad took Scott for a ride around the property on the 4 wheeler (I think Scott was a little nervous). Then off to ...

Welcome, sweet little Madison Grace Fears. She was born May 19, 2008. Cloys and Anna are so proud and Trevor was so excited for her to come that I bet he is thrilled. This is my new cousin Mia Grace Walters. My cousin Dana has given birth to this beautiful little angel. They have been waiting patiently for her to arrive and she finally did this month. I can't wait to see her in person. Congratulations Dana and Brad!

Gary and Tara Come to Atlanta!

Gary and Tara came to Atlanta. We didn't get to see them the whole time they were here. Tara was visiting her cousin and Gary was here for one of his classes and he had competitions and a full schedule while he was here. But today we got to see them! Scott did have a bid today so he couldn't leave the office, but they came in to see him for a little bit. I got to go to lunch with them. We went to Moe's and got to visit for a while. We can't wait until they come back.

April Fool's

We had some fun today at work with April Fool's Day! Scott and I got to work this morning before we went in we decided we would have a little fun with some co-workers. Dave from the office needed to borrow Scott' s truck yesterday and we took his Trailblazer, so when we got to work Scott told him that his transmission had starting slipping (that's a joke because that has happened to Scott TWICE in the last six months), and Dave was so worried. I went and told Linda that I work with in the office that I was pregnant, she got a little more excited than I expected so I had to tell her really quick. After that it caught on and Dave started calling around with some "emergencies" of his own. It was also bid day for Scott, so after everything had calmed down and Scott got in the zone for the bid, he got pranked himself. Dave went to the bid and called him afterward and told him that we had won the bid, but that we were $300,000.00 less then the next high bidder, which made Scott freak! Everybody got a good laugh, even Scott. All in all it was a nice little comic relief for the day.

Well we have been challenged by our Sister-in-law Tara to Go Green. Well...since we are in a drought and have already cut our water usage by 10%, and we have already started using canvas grocery bags we are going to sort and recycle our garbage. We've talked about it before, but now we are going to do it! Watch for updates...

This is the look of a Winner. Scott has been working in a new position at the office for the last month. He has been estimating! He is learning a new skill and he is enjoying it very much. He is getting to be more involved with the subcontractors and project managers. Well, he won his first bid yesterday!!! It is a brick fence job for the church. He has a couple more that he is working on for next week and I know he will do great! This is the look of a Winner!

I have to tell ya, that I am so excited about Daylight Saving Time. I look forward to this time every year. I start watching for the days to get longer; when there is a little more sunlight everyday. I am also excited that "they" have decided to extend Daylight Saving Time, so it comes very early this year. So I thought I would throw in some facts about Daylight Saving Time, ya know just FYI:

• Benjamin Franklin was the first to think of Daylight Savings Time.
• Daylight Saving Time is NOT recognized in the United States in Arizona, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands. (To all of my family in Arizona, "How do you like it? I would think it would be hard to get used too.")
• Daylight Saving Time is called "Summer Time" in other parts of the world.
• Daylight Saving Time has been used in the United States only since World War I, and began as an effort to conserve fuel.

There are just a few quick facts, but there is a lot of history behind Daylight Saving Time. Check it out,and enjoy the extra day time!

Whelp, I tried it again. I remembered to put all of the flour in and I made sure that I used 2 Tablespoons of yeast in stead of just 2 teaspoons. As you can see there has been an improvement, a slight improvement. It's as tall as it should be and brown in all the right spots, but there is still a big crack around the top. Oh well, maybe next time. If anybody has any suggestions feel free to share.

We always try to do a little something special on Valentines Day. This year, it was just kind of a bad time. Scott had had the flu and wasn't feeling very well, so we didn't go out. So, he suggested that we get the stuff to make spaghetti, and that we cook dinner together and then watch Lady and the Tramp (you'll remember the "spaghetti scene" I'm sure.) It was very sweet and romantic. We enjoyed the evening together very much, and even shared a strand of spaghetti. And if you are wondering, yes, I caught the flu.
